About the role

Tech Nation’s newly formed international team is seeking someone with exceptional relationship management capability, a working knowledge of government and startups with a collaborative, creative work ethos to join the team in Singapore and be the second person in APAC.  This dynamic new role will report to the Head of Asia-Pacific in Singapore.  

The successful candidate will be contributing to the team's ambitions to support UK scale ups to understand business opportunities in the region, helping them to scale in Asia-Pacific including opening offices and recruiting talent.

The APAC Programme Lead will work with the founders and c-suite of the UK’s most ambitious scaling tech companies, understanding their overseas growth potential and supporting them on their international growth plans.

You will be supporting the Head of APAC as relationship manager for UK government stakeholders, international governments and government agencies and delivery partners, ensuring a coordinated approach and support for UK tech scaleups. 

 You will contribute to the creation of a network of British tech leaders in Asia Pacific and manage the community. 

 You will have exceptional communication skills, have flexibility and capability to work across multiple time zones, with different stakeholders and cultures.  You will have broad responsibilities such as network engagement, research, events, digital development, communications and marketing.

A Day in the Life of the APAC Programme and Community Lead might look something like this:

  • Scaleup engagement and support - be the point of contact with scaleups to engage in their scaling journey to Asia Pacific. Ensuring long term collaboration. 
  • Stakeholder management - engaging with colleagues across Tech Nation and wider key stakeholders to coordinate and plan activities. Coordinating with external service providers and ensuring quality control for referral purposes
  • Collaborating cross functionally, internally and externally
  • Events, webinars, roadshows and conferences - Promoting UK tech ecosystem and UK innovation in APAC, supporting educational workshops and events to UK scaleups in the region. Organising roadshows in the region (subject travel regulations)
  • Support the international programme on building:  webinars, masterclasses, international missions and content to deliver to UK scaleups
  • Managing data and inputting into reports - including responsibility for monthly report to key stakeholders
  • Build internal and external processes to filter companies interested in Tech Nation international services 
  • Community management - support on the creation of a British Founders Club in the region and coordinate its community and activities (including platform, events and community building) 
  • Partners management - ensure an accurate and updated list of all external regional partners including: Program delivery, corporate services, investors, corporation, etc. 
  • Administration Support - supporting the Head of APAC on local administration and coordination - including CRM management  

Skills required for this fast-paced international role include:

  • You will have an understanding of what a tech company needs to expand their business, raise capital investment and scale internationally
  • You will preferably have knowledge and experience of doing business with international businesses
  • You must have a strong local industry knowledge (Singapore a must, other in the region a plus) 
  • We require 3+ years minimum of account management and/or community management
  • You must have a entrepreneurial growth mindset, the team is growing and changing fast as we develop so you must be able to adapt and pivot where needed
  • It is essential you have 3+ years working in the tech sector
  • We would like you to have experience working with collaborative platforms and project management technology
  • You will enjoy working in a collaborative team environment and have the skills to work with colleagues from different countries and cultures
  • You must enjoy working at pace and delivering high quality work
  • You will be able to work independently
  • You should be confident speaking with founders and c-suite execs
  • It would be preferable you have some experience with government but not essential
  • You should be comfortable working to KPIs, OKRs and other targets

  • Have proven project management and planning skills
  • Have a deep passion for tech entrepreneurship, technology and the role both have in shaping our future
